The University of Central Florida is a space-grant university located on a 1,415-acre (5.73 km2) main campus in Orlando, Florida, USA. UCF is a member institution of the State University System of Florida and is the second-largest university in the United States.

UCF consists of a 58,587 member student body and employs more than 10,000 people, including over 1,700 teaching faculty and adjuncts.[1] University of Central Florida faculty and administrators include those who are currently serving and have formerly served the university as professors, deans, administrative officials or in other notable educational capacities.

Presidents

The President of the University of Central Florida is the Chief Executive Officer of the university.[2] The University's Board of Trustees nominates the president, who must then be confirmed by the Florida Board of Governors. There is no limit set on how long a president may serve in office.

The president is responsible for the everyday operations of the university, as well as budget and program administration. They are responsible for consulting with the Board of Trustees and for setting the university's goals and mission. In addition to serving as UCF's key spokesperson, the president is responsible for ultimately executing the rules and policies of the Board of Governors and Board of Trustees.[2]

Board of Trustees

The University of Central Florida Board of Trustees is the governing body of the university. The Board consists of thirteen members, six members that are selected by the Governor of Florida and five members that are selected by the Florida Board of Governors. The Chair of the Faculty Senate and the President of the Student Government Association also serve as trustees.[2] The current Chair of the Board is Michael Grindstaff.[4]

The Board of Trustees set policy for the university, and serve as UCF's legal owner and final authority. Overall, the Board of Trustees hold the institution's resources in trust, is responsible for selection of the university president, and are responsible for university resources and for implementing the rules and policies of the Florida Board of Governors.[2]
